What to Watch This Weekend 11/21/13

There's a multitude of fun stuff to watch this weekend!!

New in Theaters:

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" opens this weekend, with Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth returning to continue the dystopic story of a world where kids are encouraged to slaughter one another for entertainment and oppressive dictatorial purposes. I don't have my tickets yet, but that's because I'll be busy Saturday figuring out how to watch:

"The Day of the Doctor" also known as the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special will air this weekend on BBC America and in select theaters around the Salt Lake Valley. I'm especially excited for David Tennant to return and team up with Matt Smith. It should be a fan-pleasing thrill. We've come to realize that Steven Moffat can do no wrong.

Well, except make us wait YEARS to watch another episode of "Sherlock", that is.

Also opening this weekend is "Delivery Man", starring the likeable Vince Vaughn as a middle-aged underachiever who finds out that he unwittingly fathered over 500 children by donating to a fertility clinic. The subject matter is iffy and this being Hollywood, I'm sure it won't be family friendly, but the trailer actually makes it look half decent.

At Redbox:

"Duck Dynasty: I'm Dreaming of a Redneck Christmas" looks fun-- I haven't seen it yet, but I do have two kids who love that show. And, I admit, it is pretty funny. I encourage my family to watch it, in large part because the family featured on the show is unabashedly Christian. They pray together, speak with reverence of God and Jesus, and they have even publicly talked about the fact that they believe in remaining chaste until their wedding night. They might be the only family on television who have such moral standards.

They've brought back a fantastic 2011 Christmas movie, "Arthur Christmas". It's charming, funny, clean entertainment for everyone. And James McAvoy does the voice of Arthur. You can't go wrong with James McAvoy.

Have a fantastic weekend!! Comment below- let me know what you did and watched!

"Delivery Man" is being pilloried by critics and a look at its content is distressing for a PG-13 movie, and since we don't care much for Vince Vaughn anyway, we've crossed that off our list. But on Wednesday — "The Book Thief," "Philomena," "Frozen" and "Nebraska" all open; looking forward (with fingers crossed) to all of them.

Also, who's bringing back "Arthur Christmas"? I don't see that anywhere.

Ah, I forgot about "The Book Thief" and the others aren't on my radar-- I'll have to look for them, too. "The Book Thief" is one of my all-time favorite books. I just loved it so much. And Geoffrey Rush? Perfect casting, there! I do want to see that one.

Oh, Redbox is bringing it back. Blogger messes with my formatting, so the title separating sections got posted too high. i'll try to fix that, but... stupid Blogger.
