I stopped watching the show for awhile because I felt the humor uniformly fell flat, and because of Logue, and the Bruce and Alfred characters. I didn't like Logue at all, although I've enjoyed him in other shows. And the Bruce Wayne storyline is morose and very dull. Every time the plot returns there it's like the show hits "pause" and it takes a while to get going again. Alfred as a character is OK but the actor mumbles his thick British accent and I sometimes can't quite make out what he says. I returned to the show after Baccarin came onboard, and it has gotten better. Love her. And love her storyline. And I must agree that softening Logue's character has made him so much more tolerable. I'm enjoying Cobblepot, Nygma and Fish, and the actor playing Gordon is very good. Everything else you said is spot on (because I agree with it, of course). — PopChrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16034205089033074892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5001474224182650720.post-56952444704222054832014-05-14T15:44:32.137-06:002014-05-14T15:44:32.137-06:00'Orphan Black' is a Canadian show, filmed ...'Orphan Black' is a Canadian show, filmed in Canada, and I've spotted "Toronto" on license plates and other items here and there. But I think it's trying to be ambiguous as to place and time, which is fitting for a show that is so otherworldly, sort of in the future but maybe not. Fascinating in many ways but it's Maslany's amazing versatility that keeps bringing me back. Do you suppose she has multiple-personality disorder as a result of this show?Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16034205089033074892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5001474224182650720.post-87505983021082571872014-04-15T22:10:34.856-06:002014-04-15T22:10:34.856-06:00Ha ha, I agree! :)Ha ha, I agree! :)Stephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13975871639557922792noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5001474224182650720.post-18558233671085615472014-04-15T21:14:09.557-06:002014-04-15T21:14:09.557-06:00This book was AWESOME! I only saw it 2 weeks ago,(I actually owned the soundtrack before seeing the movie) so I was behind as well. I thought it was good, but not great. So many people had told me it was better than Tangled, but I'd easily pick Tangled over Frozen. I wondered if just hearing all the hoopla had ruined it a little for me, but maybe not. :) LeeAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04297901195778855095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5001474224182650720.post-47408883730702845102014-02-21T12:00:03.869-07:002014-02-21T12:00:03.869-07:00I read 'Dracula' as a teen and enjoyed it;...I read 'Dracula' as a teen and enjoyed it; I also like many of the variant film versions. Stoker, a man of his time, used actual metaphors, not hit-you-over-the-head literal descriptions, which in my view wouldn't be a bad thing for modern writers to return to. If you read 'Frankenstein,' you won't recognize it from any of the movies. Even those that claim to be faithful aren't. Shelley's book is a masterpiece, chilling and surprisingly realistic (a relative term) compared to the films.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16034205089033074892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5001474224182650720.post-6199936857142151862014-02-13T18:32:22.582-07:002014-02-13T18:32:22.582-07:00The stuff with bonnie being a witch will make a lo...The stuff with bonnie being a witch will make a lot of sense haha, like all the mystical creatures being there is because its 'mystic' falls, and it will also explain a lot more of that later. But regarding "Sherlock's" sexism, having read all the short stories and novels by Arthur Conan Doyle, it seems to be right in line with the way Holmes was originally imagined. In this regard, "Elementary" gets it right, while still allowing for a female Watson. Except for Irene, the love of his life -- in only one story, if I remember correctly -- he's pretty much an asexual being. There's no romance in his soul and few women in his circle. He's sort of a "solving" machine. And that's OK, especially when he's being adapted as interestingly as he is in TV form these days. (The less said about the Robert Downey Jr. movies the better.)Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16034205089033074892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5001474224182650720.post-11538689252131641942013-12-11T08:25:06.749-07:002013-12-11T08:25:06.749-07:00I believe an atomic bomb is a type of nuclear bomb...I believe an atomic bomb is a type of nuclear bomb.
